Masthead/ logo

I have created a masthead for my magazine that I change the colours of to compliment the cover/webpage that it is on. It is distinctive enough to be recognised by readers in a magazine stand. The shine of the font is eye-catching but doesn't distract from the cover stars.

Pop-up

On Wix, I created a pop-up that transitions into the webpage after someone opens it as a call to action to subscribe to the issue. I designed it as a cassette tape as the magazine is passionate about physical copies of music.

Test Shots- Cover 2

I took some test shots for my cover 2 using a fisheye lens and then edited the shot into the record player using Photoshop and Canva and testing different filters. This shot was the
most successful so I decided to practice editing it to give me an idea of what I
want my final product to look like when I retake the shots and have a clear
idea on the styling/makeup.

Another test shot option without using Photoshop that I could've used:

Testing with the fisheye lens, I found that it looked better if the models' face
was in the centre of the lens to prevent it from looking distorted.

Feedback on pitch

I was pleased with how my pitch went and the feedback that I received. For intertextuality I am thinking about having my cover star for cover 1 wearing an outfit inspired by Britney Spears’ iconic denim outfit from the 2011 AMA’s but with darker makeup to emphasise the idea of 90s/2000s pop reimagined, as well as cover lines with intertextual references of her songs such as ‘Oops I did it again’ being used for an article about the music industry taking inspiration from earlier eras. For cover 2 I am now considering including a cover line reference to the Charli XCX lyric ‘Von Dutch, cult classic, but I still pop’ with the brand ‘Von Dutch’ being popularised in the early 2000s and the lyric perhaps referencing how pop music today should be more like it was in the 2000s when it wasn’t so serious and was fun to listen to.

I may include a qr code to my website in the magazine as well as the usernames of other platforms in the print and online versions. In regards to a vinyl giveaway competition, I will mention how to apply through the website in the print version as well as where on the website the form is for audiences to write their concert reviews online.
